Group Hike at East Palisades Trail

$0.00

About the Hike We're heading out to one of Atlanta's most beloved trails — East Palisades, tucked inside the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. This scenic loop runs along the eastern banks of the Chattahoochee River and takes you through rocky bluffs, lush hardwood forest, and the trail's most iconic feature: a stunning bamboo forest that feels worlds away from the city.

What to Expect The trail is a 4.2-mile loop with about 495 feet of elevation gain, rated moderate and taking roughly 1.5 to 2 hours to complete. AllTrails Expect some hills, exposed roots, and natural terrain — wear proper hiking shoes. Highlights along the way include river overlooks, a beautiful rock outcropping perfect for a quick rest, views of the Atlanta skyline from Poppi's Point, and the enchanting bamboo forest near marker EP-26. Explore Georgia

We'll meet at the Indian Trail Entrance: 📍 1425 Indian Trail NW, Sandy Springs, GA 30327

Admission is free; parking is $5 per car. Because parking fills up fast on weekends — especially at the Whitewater Creek lot — arriving at 10 AM sharp is recommended.

What to Bring

  • Comfortable, closed-toe hiking shoes

  • Water and a snack

  • Sunscreen and layers (April weather can shift)

  • $5 cash or card for parking

  • Leash if you're bringing a pup — dogs are welcome but must be on a 6-foot leash at all times; failure to comply may result in a federal fine. AllTrails

A few trail tips: Stay on marked trails — poison ivy is abundant off-path, and venturing cross-country causes erosion. The trail markers are clearly numbered and easy to follow throughout the loop
